Logline

“Lost in the ATL” is a romantic drama about a disgraced ad executive and his strong-willed colleague, who, despite their differences, navigate a rocky road to love and self-discovery, proving that sometimes the best partnerships are born from the most unexpected connections in the most unexpected places.

MAIN CONFLICT

The main conflict revolves around Louis’s struggle to rebuild his career and personal life after being accused of stealing an idea and relocated to Atlanta. This external conflict is compounded by his internal struggle to find self-worth and purpose while navigating a complex relationship with his colleague, Lucy, who challenges his professional and personal beliefs. The tension between pursuing his ambitions and reconciling his feelings for Lucy drives the narrative, as he grapples with the desire for redemption, love, and professional success amidst external pressures and self-doubt.

SYNOPSIS

ACT I
We meet Louis, a young advertising executive, near the end of his rope as he debates, then commits to jumping off an Atlanta building.

Flashing back, Louis is in New York City and celebrating the fact that he’s won a significant award for his work. When he is accused of stealing that work from a homeless man Cornelius, the higher-ups decide Louis needs to relocate to Atlanta where he can start fresh. At first, he’s appalled by the idea, but he reluctantly agrees.

ACT II
As Louis meets his co-workers, he takes an interest in Lucy, until she begins to debate all of the core concepts Louis holds dear in advertising. They’re immediately combative and are both shocked when they find out that they’re both in charge and partnered together.

Although they have completely opposite styles and beliefs, they begin to form a partnership and get the best out of each other, while maintaining their ideas about NYC and ATL. Not long after being set up by their co-workers on a sneaky double date, Louis and Lucy begin a relationship that ends with them moving in together. Everything is right in the world and everything is going well for our central pair… until we meet Bob.

MID-POINT
Bob is the new man in charge in Atlanta and he quickly fires Louis and Lucy’s boss and places Louis on a performance improvement plan. At the same time, Lucy gets an offer to move to NYC and in a panic, Louis decides the best thing he can do, is propose to her. She gives him a kind brush off and has to “think about it”. This leads Louis in shambles as nothing in his life is going right. He dreams that Lucy is getting married to someone else and we see him matching our opening moment and leaping to his death… in his dream.

When he wakes he discovers that Lucy is indeed seeing someone else, and even when he finds some modicum of success at work, Bob takes all the credit, to which Louis explodes, calling him out and making a mess of his career.

ACT III
Louis seeks out and eventually finds his mentor figure in Cornelius where he gets the idea to form his own ad company and wants to hire his former coworker. Soon after, Louis is set up with a friend and while they become closer, it’s clear that Louis isn’t ready to start over and is still hung up on Lucy.

Lucy comes back to Atlanta for a visit and she meets up with Louis. They trade barbs about NYC vs. ATL again before becoming clear that they need to figure something out and be together. Louis takes her on a drive through Atlanta and Lucy decides that’s where she belongs in the ATL and with Louis.
